Happy Birthday to Ruskin Bond Sir
He was born on 19th May 1934.
He is an Indian author of British descent. He is considered to be an icon among Indian writers and children's authors.
When he was eight years old, his mother separated from his father.
He was very close to his father and describes this period with his father as one of the happiest times of his life. When he was ten, his father died during the war, while he was posted in Calcutta.
He was awarded the Shahitya Academy Award, Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan. He writes more than 500 short stories, novels, essays.
His first novel 'The Room on the Roof'.
His notable works are The Blue Umbrella, Angry River, Our Trees Still Grow in Dehra, A Flight of Pigeons etc.
He said his favourite genres are essays and short stories. He considers himself a "visual writer" because for short stories.
